1. Order a NetFronts web hosting plan.

2. Keep your current service active during the transition.
   Overlap service with NetFronts and your existing provider during the transition period to minimize the risk of downtime. The overlap period should last at least five (5) business days.
3. Make a copy of your existing website.
   Create a backup of your website on a disk or your computer hard drive. Ensure your backup contains all web files, databases, script files, etc. Unless you use publishing software (e.g. FrontPage), use your FTP software to copy all of the directories and files from your website.

   • For Dreamweaver, use the GET command to copy all of your website files.
   • For FrontPage, use the Import feature to make a complete copy of the current website.
4. Configure your NetFronts web hosting account.
   After you order a web hosting plan with NetFronts, you will immediately receive a "welcome" email, which will tell you how to access your web hosting account control panel. The email includes other set up information and a link to our support guide. The welcome email and "Getting Started" section of our guide will be the most helpful in setting up your account. Before beginning your website conversion, be sure to set up FTP access, create your databases, and enable website statistics.
5. Upload your files.
   Once your hosting account is configured, you can upload your files to your hosting space. Following are four common methods for uploading the files:

   • FTP: Use your FTP software to FTP the files from the backup you created. Review the article Getting Started with FTP Uploading for instructions and video demonstrations.
   • Dreamweaver: Define a new site and use your FTP username and password with the PUT command to transfer the files to your new hosting space. Review the article Getting Started with FTP Uploading for instructions and video demonstrations.
   • FrontPage: Activate FrontPage extensions from the web hosting account control panel. Review the article FrontPage Extensions. From within FrontPage, create a new website from the site files you have backed up on your computer, and then Publish to your NetFronts hosting space using your FTP information. Review the article Getting Started with FTP Uploading for instructions and video demonstrations.
   • File Manager: Use the web-based File Manager tool in your new NetFronts hosting control panel. Use the Upload button to transfer your website files to your new hosting space.
6. Configure your email.
   If your domain name is not registered with NetFronts, it is important for you to set up your new emailboxes before you update the domain name servers (DNS) for your domain. You can get more details on how to set up your emailboxes by reviewing the article Getting Started with Email.
7. Domain Management.
   If you registered a new domain name with NetFronts when ordering your hosting package, it will be available to you within 24-48 hours (transfers may take longer). In the meantime, you can access your web space through your instant access domain alias address, which you received in your "welcome" email (example http://d74876111.u37.hosting-advantage.com). This URL is unique to your hosting account and is a good way to access your website quickly. Your website may experience some downtime while your DNS records are propagated through the world's WHOIS servers. It will take about 24-72 hours for the process to be completed.
8. Troubleshooting.
   Sometimes, your transferred website may not look exactly the same as the last version. Please review the following situations to see if one applies to you:
   • If you are using FrontPage ensure that the FrontPage extensions are turned on.
   • If website images are missing, make sure that the images are uploaded into the correct directory.
   • If you have any custom code, it may need to be modified to reference the new site and correctly mirror your original site.
   • If your hyperlinks are not working, make sure the linked to files are in the correct directory as referenced in the hyperlink.
