What is a Merchant
Account and Why Should I Considering Appying for One?
Internet merchant accounts are required
in order for your company or organization to accept credit
cards from customers online. Once you have an Internet merchant
account established, you may accept and process credit card
sales from customers and have the funds deposited automatically
into your company's checking account.
NOTE: if you already have
a merchant account for retail sales, you will most likely
NOT be able to use it for Internet transactions. Most banks
will NOT let you use your retail merchant account for Internet
transactions. Many banks require a special Internet merchant
account, with special rules and rates. Please check with
your current merchant account provider to be sure.

What is a Gateway Account
and Why Do I Need One to Process Online Transactions?
The gateway allows ShoppingQ to post credit card
transactions from your store to your merchant account through
the Internet.
Think of the "gateway" as the "pipeline" that
connects your merchant account with your online store.
The gateway is normally
provided by a third party processing company, which may or
may not be the same company that provides
your merchant account. Without the gateway, it is not possible
to automatically post credit card transactions from your
online ShoppingQ store to your merchant account. You would
have to process the captured credit card orders manually
using web-based or PC-based processing software.
IMPORTANT: the gateway
account must be compatible with BOTH your merchant account
and with ShoppingQ. While it's true
you can obtain an Internet merchant account through any number
of companies, you need to be sure it supports one of the
processing gateways listed below. Otherwise, the merchant
account will not work with your ShoppingQ online store.
