Transferring to NetFronts

How Do I Transfer My Website to NetFronts?

The Basic Steps
Here are the steps that may be required to transfer your website from your existing hosting company to NetFronts. These steps will also aid in making a change of web hosts transparent to your website visitors. We would be glad to help move your site seamlessly to our web hosting service. Please view and complete our request form to find out if we can help.

Make a Backup of Existing Website
It’s important that you maintain a back up copy of your website at all times. If you don’t already have a copy of your website on your local computer, please make one as soon as possible.

By moving your site for you, NetFronts will take care of the following tasks that you would otherwise perform yourself:

  • Upload Website to NetFronts’ Server
  • Test Website on Our Server
  • Create Email Accounts within Your Control Panel

NetFronts will contact you within 72 hours of submitting the form and provide you with information for reviewing and approving the site move.

Review and Approve Your Site on NetFronts’ Web Server
Now your website files are on two servers - the old and the new. Make sure all pages are working on the new server and inform technical support if you notice any problems. NetFronts can only be responsible for web pages, databases, and scripts that were working properly before the move.

Change DNS (Domain Name Services)
When an Internet surfer types your domain name into an Internet browser, Domain Name Services (DNS) point the browser to the correct server so that your website will display. So until you request a DNS change from your domain registrar, DNS points the world to files that are located on your old web hosting provider’s servers. NetFronts’ DNS information is:

Ns1.hosting-advantage.com
Ns2.hosting-advantage.com

To update your DNS so that the Internet will point to your website files on NetFronts’ servers, contact your domain registrar (the company where you purchased your domain), request a DNS update, and provide the above information. View example email/request <link>. Popular domain registrars are Network Solutions/Verisign, Enom, Register.com, GoDaddy.com, etc. You may even have a user name and password assigned to you in which you can log in at your registrar's website and make your own changes to DNS.

Once the DNS information is changed, proper domain propagation can still take 48 hours to be acknowledged by all of the web servers and ISP’s on the internet. They all seem to update their records at different times, but it usually happens universally within 2 days.

Close Old Hosting Account
Finally, after testing, checking for domain propagation, and confirming that all files are working well on NetFronts’ server, contact the old hosting company and cancel service. You are now one of NetFronts newest, satisfied customers.
